About Erik
I’ve always loved creating spaces.
It started as a kid building forts with blankets. It evolved to creating haunted houses at Halloween, designing homecoming parade floats, and constructing theater sets.
At their core, these projects were about imagining and executing immersive, functional, and creative environments.
Interior design is my second career.
I’ve been an entrepreneur from a young age. In middle school, a friend and I owned The Bagel Times, a service that delivered bagels and newspapers to our suburb.
In 2008, I founded a digital marketing firm, Capacity Interactive, which serves over 200 arts and cultural organizations. In 2022, I sold the business to the employees and now serve as board chair.
I’m a native New Yorker (from Ohio).
My parents grew up in small apartments in NYC. After my dad finished his residency in Cincinnati, Ohio, my parents purchased a 1933 colonial house that offered a bit more space than they grew up having. I was so fortunate to live there. I believe there is a special energy in a beautiful and thoughtfully designed home that helps you live better.
I love a decorated home.
My mom loved to decorate and filled our home with beautiful decor and finishes like grasscloth wallpapers, textured textiles, and antiques from all over the world (always bought on sale). We ate on an old French farmhouse table sitting on Brentwood cafe chairs. I still remember how these old pieces - teeming with history and style - smelled and felt. They made everything taste better.
My love of learning propels me.
Working in interiors opens up worlds of architecture, textiles, and furniture to explore. I can’t get enough books, podcasts, or videos about interior design and interior design history. I am so inspired by decorators and architects past and present.
I want to help you live better.
I love working with people at pivot points in their lives—as is usually the case during a design project.
The great designer Albert Hadley said, "the essence of interior design will always be about people and how they live."
How can I better understand your style and how you live and create the space of your dreams?
